Based in Milton Keynes, this is an exciting opportunity for a recent college/university leaver with a keen interest in learning the practical skills required in order to support a full design/build & run DevOps infrastructure model based in the cloud. Advance your experience & knowledge gained by working with development, infrastructure & support teams at all levels. 

 

We are looking for someone with the willingness and appetite to take their knowledge and turn it into operational experience under the guidance of the financial services technology team 

 

Role Responsibility

  • To work with the financial services release & infrastructure team in the UK and US to learn and provide corporate and hosted services to the business operations team
  • IT support of a busy office and remote users
  • Install and upgrade software as directed
  • Assist internal office staff with induction and training on Desktop
  • Assist Release Coordinator in all aspects of the software release process
  • Ensure all releases details are communicated to stakeholders
  • Monitor systems pre\post release and liaise with operational teams to ensure release success
  • Identification of sources and trends of technical problems to prevent future occurrences by ongoing monitoring
  • Provide routine server maintenance: service packs, hot fixes, bios updates, firmware updates, monitoring event logs
  • Creation and maintenance of AD user accounts, user groups, permissions, logon scripts, and policies
  • To familiarize and understand the latest PCI / GDPR and FCA regulations and liaise with the Security team to perform risk assessments, threat assessments and vulnerability scans
  • Work with business operations to understand day to day requirements on the call center floor
  • Work with managed service providers to ensure correct SLA enforcement and provide quarterly analysis back to the head of technology
  • Perform user management activities
  • To provide advice and guidance as directed by the Directory of technology

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION 

  • Flexibility of working hours is essential (cover of on-call rotation may be required)
  • Travel to London & Cardiff may be required on occasion

 

 

The Ideal Candidate

  • Degree in a computer science or experience in IT support or release management in a medium to large size call centre
  • Core understanding of the fundamentals of the release & technology stack life cycle gained through successful completion of a computer science based degree program 
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Ability to develop self and others
  • Proven analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to gather data and pass that information onto peers, other departments, senior management or external suppliers for investigation
  • Effective communicator; communicating to people at all levels - above average people skills
  • Willingness and ability to learn new technologies and concepts
  • Ability to present ideas clearly in non-technical terms
  • Ability to develop and document processes
  • Strong time management and prioritisation skills
